Interactive Sight Word Reader for Easter

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. I have created a new Interactive Sight Word Reader, "Signs of New Life from the Lord" to use during the Easter Season. Easter is a celebration of New Life and this emergent reader shows springtime evidence of God bringing new life to the world around us (in chicks hatching, plants sprouting, calves being born, and trees blossoming.) The final page of the book serves as a reminder that the cross is also evidence of God sharing new life with all of us.

This book is free to download. Simply click the image above to get your free copy of "Signs of New Life from the Lord."

Wishing you a Blessed Holy Week,

Craft for Bulletin Board

These fish were made using small paper plates with no coating.
Students scribble with magic markers all over the paper.
Then spray the plates with water to blend the colors.
When they are dry cut of edging leaving a tail only.
Cut out the mouth in a triangle shape.
Use the remaining plate trimmings to make fins.
Add goggly eyes and glue on fins.

Re-enacting the Bible Story

We Re-enacted the story with a boat made from Legos,
a net purchased from Hobby Lobby,  fishing hats, and soft stuffed fish.
Students took turns being fishermen and fish swimming around the boat.
When the Jesus puppet came and told them to throw their net to the other side,
the students with the fish dropped them into the net.

We actually made it into a movie using the Fisher Men Song.

Due to copyrights and protection of children's identity, you will have to use a little imagination.

Here are some samples of songs that I like to use for this lesson.

Goliath Bible Story For Kids

Puppets and Songs

This is a clip of a puppet show I made with my students using these puppets and the song Goliath by the Donut Man.  Students have been blurred out but you can still follow their movements.

I also made this fun activity

I traced a large projection of Goliath created by Phillip Martin
Then I placed a whiffle ball into a sock for the students to sling at Goliath!

Shamrock Trinity FREEBIE!

Teach students that St. Patrick's Day is more than leprechauns, rainbows, and pots of gold. Learning about the Patron Saint of Ireland is not only fun, it is also inspiring, as St. Patrick sacrificed much, endured hardships and isolation, all in the name of spreading the Gospel of Christ.

Although the story of how St. Patrick used the shamrock to teach about the Trinity is a legend, reading and learning about it brings a Godly element to our celebrations.
